Cash for Kids – Thanks to Wave 105

For a family that has had their world turned upside down by a devastating diagnosis or unforeseen circumstances, good news can be hard to come by. But at Wave 105 Cash for Kids, the best part of the job is being able to tell families like Amanda’s that we can help them.

Often the item itself is quite small—for Amanda* it was an anti-escape carseat—but the benefits for the family are profound. It means that Amanda can now take her developmentally disabled child to nursery and on family days out, knowing that they won’t escape from the car seat and hurt themselves. For a family whose world has shrunk over the last few years, it’s a small price to pay to give them their freedom back.

Cash for KidsUnfortunately for every family like Amanda’s, there’s another family that we’re unable to help; we always receive more requests than we have money available to grant. For these families, the wait for some good news goes on.

But this is where you can help. Wave 105 Cash for Kids fundraises all year round to raise as much money as possible for our three grant rounds, and every penny stays local, helping the children on your doorstep who need it most.

Last year, our fundraisers enabled us to help 65,174 children in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight through
our cash grant rounds. They paid for counselling sessions, sensory equipment, respite camp holidays, and setting up
a basics’ bank for families who have suffered domestic violence, amongst many other things.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager said, “We couldn’t help nearly as many children as we do every year without
the incredible support we get from the community in the South. Please help us to put smiles on even more faces
this year.”

You can get involved by:

  • Signing up to be one of our 1000 Faces for 2019 – pledge to raise just £100 over the course of the year;
  • Donating an item or a service to our charity auction, held in Autumn;
  • Completing a sponsored ‘charity challenge’, like a run or a skydive;
  • Make a one-off donation or sign up to donate a small amount every month

Any way that you can help will have a direct and positive impact on children in the South, and will allow us to give some good news to even more families this year.
